The program will focus on management of rain water
for small scale farming as an integral to eradicating hunger. The program will
highlight elements required to manage water use and demand effectively.
We implement practical applications in areas within the Virunga area with an approaching water resource crisis. We initiate an approach that will improve water security, address hunger and poverty and enhance carbon storage. Capacity building on retaining more rain waters in soils and storing run-off will bridge dry spells to rain fed food production. A water conservation measure is a process implemented in order to reduce water loss or waste. Water efficiency is a tool of water conservation that results in more efficient water use and thus reduces water demand. The Virunga community Programs will help local communities reduce rain waste water loss providing them with water plastic tanks build valley dams particularly in areas where farming is the main economic of local communities.
