Our volunteering program invites passionate individuals to contribute to meaningful projects that enhance the livelihoods of local communities while promoting environmental conservation. Volunteers will work alongside local community members and experienced guides to create a lasting impact in the Virunga Massif area.
Program Goals:

Volunteer Activities:
Tree Planting Initiatives:
Participate in reforestation efforts by planting indigenous fruit and medicinal trees.
Learn about the ecological significance of native species and their benefits to local communities.
Community Development Projects:
Collaborate with local artisans to promote handicraft production and sales.
Assist in the development of micro-enterprises, such as sustainable farming practices and eco-friendly tourism initiatives.
Conservation Education:
Help organize workshops and awareness campaigns focused on biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices.
Engage with local schools to promote environmental education among youth.
Cultural Heritage Preservation:
Work with local cultural groups to document and promote traditional practices, crafts, and music.
Assist in organizing cultural events that celebrate local heritage and attract tourism.
Program Details:
Duration: Volunteers can choose to participate for a minimum of two weeks to a maximum of six months.
Location: Projects are based in various communities around the Virunga Massif, with accommodation provided at Virunga homestay.
Cost: A contribution fee from $700 will be required to cover accommodation, meals, and administrative expenses. This fee directly supports local community projects.
Requirements:
Age: 18 years and older
No specific skills are required, but a passion for community development and conservation is essential.
Basic knowledge of English is helpful for communication.
Support Provided:
Orientation and Training: A comprehensive orientation session will provide an overview of the projects, local culture, and safety guidelines.
Guidance: Experienced local coordinators will assist volunteers throughout their stay, ensuring a meaningful and impactful experience.
Cultural Immersion: Opportunities for local cultural experiences, including cooking classes, traditional dance lessons, and community gatherings.
