Although use of passage cropping and mixed perennial cropping is increasing, farmers are still anxious to understand more about the use of trees, hedges and scrubs as a way to improve soil physical properties and promote nutrient cycling. Sustainable agro forestry programs will therefore encourage farmers to carry out organic agriculture.

The projects will supply them with farm inputs such as organic fertilizers and agro-chemicals thus boosting the productivity of food stuffs for domestic use and the surplus will be sold or exported. Of particular interest is the need to develop the use of and best practices of agro forestry alongside organic agriculture as a strategy to impound carbon and to complement the existing suit of mitigation approaches for global climate change. We will use agro forestry to improve live hoods through intercropping and crop diversification as well as potentially enable access to other income generating avenues such as carbon markets. Research institutions are welcomed to engage in organic agro forestry research, however even volunteers can be involved in the vital research capacity in the organic agro forestry.
