A few days back, our quiet spot in Musanze turned into the center of an amazing adventure. Virunga Homestay welcomed a group of remarkable Peace Corps Rwanda volunteers as they took on a brave challenge: the Run Across Rwanda (RAR). This impressive journey covering 149 miles in five days, proved more than just a test of stamina. It showed the power of community spirit and giving back.

The volunteers kicked off their amazing run in the quiet Eastern province close to the Tanzanian border. They made their way through different landscapes and soaked up Rwanda's rich culture. Their path, a stunning mix of hills green valleys, and beautiful views, took them to the Western province. There, their trip ended in the lovely village of Kigufi.

During their long journey, Virunga Homestay gave these committed hikers a peaceful place to rest and gather their thoughts. Our homestay located in the stunning landscape of the Volcanoes National Park, offered more than just a cozy bed and hot food. It gave the volunteers a quiet spot to think about what they'd done that day, swap tales, and build up their energy for the tough tasks coming up.

Our team felt proud to be involved in their adventure providing a cozy place to stay and relax. When the sun set behind the tall mountains, our homestay was full of tales about not giving up and working together. The volunteers' enthusiasm spread to everyone, and their drive to beat their fundraising goal for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fired us up.

Thanks to their team's help and their backers' kindness, these amazing people will raised more money than they aimed for. Their hard work to collect funds for cancer studies and patient support showed us how much people can do when they join forces and stay determined.
